T H E OMNI E N S E M B L E is a chamber music group created to perform a uniquely flexible repertoire.  From Renaissance music to contemporary avant garde, the group performs programs of enormous variety, all designed to provide their audience with a musical diversity not ordinarily encountered in a single musical event. Flutist/Music Director David Wechsler's has lead an ensemble for 25 years with musicians who are versatile and can perfom in many styles of music. Mr. Wechsler's  crossover style utilizes acoustic,electronically treated acoustic instruments and the midi wind controller for his performances and compositions.  It is this variety of perspective and versatility that endows The OMNI Ensemble with its unique perspective.  Since 1983 the group has produced a successful concert series noted for its innovative programming and guest artists.  These have included composer/Instrumentalist David Amram, mezzo Sopranos Katherine Ciensinski and Charlotte Hellenkant, Harpsichordist Gerald Ranck, Performance Artist John Kelley, Saxophonist Roy Nathanson and Kumongo solist Jin Hi Kim.  Commissioned composers have included David Lang, Lee Hyla, Allen Shearer,  Michael Bushnell, Eric Klein and Allen Campbell.  In addition to their concert series at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for the past 25 years, The OMNI Ensemble has performed in Hawaii at the Honolulu Academy of the Arts, the Bethlehem Musikfest in Pennsylvania, The Shelter Island Friends of Music (1992 and 2000), the New Works October festival at Columbia University's Miller Theater, and the Select Debut series at the Town Hall in New York City.
